War of words: 'Students who fail in NEET go abroad' statement attacked by Union Minister Joshi, NCP, and Congress

Amidst the war between Ukraine and Russia, the statement of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has sparked a verbal war in the country. Regarding Indian students stuck in Ukraine, Joshi had reportedly said that 90 percent of medical students studying abroad are unable to clear NEET. Controversy arose over his statement. Congress and NCP leaders have targeted Union Minister Joshi.

Although the Union Minister had also said about his statement that now is not the right time to debate on this issue, before that this statement had come in the discussions.

Insult to Indian students: Surjewala

Reacting to Joshi's statement, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the Union Minister has insulted the Indian students stranded in Ukraine.

Irresponsible statement: Sule

NCP MP Supriya Sule said the situation was not good for both the students stranded in Ukraine and their parents. Our focus should be on evacuating Indian passengers safely. It is worrying to think that even in such an environment some of our ministers are making harsh, insensitive, and irresponsible statements.

Making fun of student Naveen's death: Ragini Nayak

Congress leader Ragini Nayak also targeted Union Minister Joshi. They demanded action against Joshi. Nayak said that what does he mean by saying that 90 percent of the students who fail go to study abroad? Ragini said, 'If you cannot share someone's sorrow, then do not make such statements. You are making fun of student Naveen's death. PM Modi and Joshi should apologize for this statement.

That's why Indian medical students go abroad

It is cheaper for Indians to study medicine in countries like Ukraine. In many countries including Ukraine and Russia, medical education can be completed by spending about 30 lakh rupees in five years. Whereas in India its expenditure reaches from 70 lakh to one crore. If the seats are fewer then the problems increase. The courses in these countries are recognized by the World Health Organization. Along with India, they are also recognized by the European Council and Medicine, General Medicine Council of the UK. This opens up good options for the students. After doing MBBS from abroad, these students have to give a test in India. However, it is only kind of formal.
