Wasim Akram, the great fast bowler of the 90s, gave a befitting reply to his comparison with Jaspreet Bumrah. He said that all this is a useless debate, like the saying 'Abdullah Deewana in someone else's wedding'. Akram admitted that Bumrah is the greatest bowler of his time, and there is no need for comparison. Wasim Akram said these things on the show 'Haarna Mana Hai' of Pakistani TV channel Geo TV.
'Every era has its own importance'
Recently, the debate on the comparison of Wasim Akram and Jaspreet Bumrah intensified on social media and cricket forums, but Akram himself clarified the situation by giving a big statement on this controversy. Akram, while counting the qualities of Bumrah's bowling, said that his unique action, fast speed, and excellent support from the Indian team management take him to a different level. Akram also clarified that the circumstances and challenges of different eras are different. According to him, every great bowler is defined according to his generation. Bumrah is a great bowler of today's time, just like Akram was considered in his era. He clearly said that Bumrah is a champion of today's era, just like he was of his era.
Wasim Akram's clear answer on comparison
He said in a funny way, 'Jasprit Bumrah is a great bowler. He has a different kind of action; he has speed, and the way the Indian Cricket Board has managed him is commendable. It is impossible to compare the 90s and today. He is a right-handed bowler, and I am a left-handed bowler. The debates that people have on social media are just like 'Abdullah Deewana in Begaanon Ki Shaadi'. Neither I care about it, nor Bumrah. People keep fighting among themselves. He is a great bowler of the modern era. I was in my era, and I did my job. I have to admit that he is a very impressive bowler.'
Aaron said Bumrah is better than Akram
Former Indian bowler Varun Aaron, citing statistics on the same show, said that Bumrah has taken more wickets than Wasim Akram in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia). This proves his class and ability. Aaron took Bumrah's side in this debate and said, 'Calling him a genius would be an understatement. He has now taken more wickets than Wasim Akram in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries. This in itself says everything, because Wasim Akram was probably one of the best fast bowlers in the world, and Bumrah is also at the same level, if not better than him.'
Shaun Tait described Bumrah's technical skills
Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, while talking to the Indian Express, praised Bumrah's technical skills. He said that Bumrah is adept at swinging the ball in both directions using his wrist and his bouncer is also very dangerous. This is the reason why he proves to be effective on every type of pitch. Talking about Bumrah's bowling technique, Tate said, 'Bumrah's bowling is amazing. His use of wrist is excellent, he can move the ball in both swing and seam ways. Also, he has the power to throw accurate bouncers, which becomes very dangerous for the batsmen.'
