Weather Updates: Heavy rain forecast in these states of the country, Meteorological Department gave flood warning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday warned that parts of central India and the west coast are likely to receive heavy rains in the next 3-4 days, with the department saying that heavy rains could cause flash floods in many places. . However, rains have started in some areas of Odisha and West Bengal.

 

 

Heavy rain started in some parts of the country

 

IMD Director General M Mohapatra said that already, parts of Odisha and the Konkan region have started receiving moderate to extremely heavy rains on Sunday. Thereafter, rains will increase over Central India during the next 3-4 days. He said there would be less rain in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal as pressure is expected to increase over Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.

 

 

At the same time, he said that when there is very heavy rainfall, then there is a possibility of flood problems in low-lying areas. We had issued a flash flood warning for Odisha. For floods in the river, the Central Water Commission will issue a warning. The local population should be prepared for heavy rains.

 

Very heavy rainfall is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, West Bengal

 

The Meteorological Department said that scattered heavy rain, thunder, and lightning are likely to occur in Jharkhand on August 9 and 10. Odisha on 10 August, Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 7 and 8 August, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during 7-9 August, Odisha on 8 and 10 August and West on 9 and 10 August Very heavy rainfall is likely in Bengal.

 

A Meteorological Department official said that a low-pressure cyclone formed over the Bay of Bengal off the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal on Saturday evening. Due to this, it is likely to move west-northwestwards over Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Office said that a long low-pressure area is also active over the Bay of Bengal and lies to the south of its normal position and will remain so for the next 4-5 days.
