The Air India Group announced on Tuesday that it will operate a total of 24 scheduled and non-scheduled flights for the West Asia region. According to a press release issued by Air India, while services continue on certain routes, flights to several destinations have been temporarily suspended.

Active and Special Flights

Air India and Air India Express will jointly operate these flights. This includes regular services to Jeddah and Muscat, as well as additional non-scheduled flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Jeddah: The two airlines will operate a total of ten flights between India and Jeddah. Air India will run one return service from Delhi and two from Mumbai, while Air India Express will operate one flight each from Hyderabad and Kozhikode.

Muscat: Air India Express will operate four scheduled flights to Muscat from Delhi and Mumbai.

UAE: The Group will operate 10 non-scheduled flights to the UAE, subject to slot availability. There are no regular services to Dubai and Abu Dhabi; however, special flights to Delhi, Kozhikode, and Mumbai are being operated by Air India Express.

Services to These Locations Will Remain Suspended

According to the release, all operations to Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain, Salalah (Oman), Riyadh, and Dammam (Saudi Arabia) have been suspended. Furthermore, no scheduled or special (ad-hoc) flights are available for Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait City, and Tel Aviv. However, flights to other regions—such as North America, Europe, and Australia—will continue to operate as per their scheduled timings.

Relief for Passengers

Passengers who have booked flights on the suspended routes may rebook for a future date without incurring any additional charges, or they may opt to receive a full refund. Passengers can contact Air India via its website or its 24x7 customer support numbers (+911169329333, +911169329999).

Air India Express passengers can also rebook their flights through the WhatsApp assistant, ‘Tia’ (+91 63600 12345).

The company has stated that it is continuously exploring the possibility of operating additional special (ad-hoc) flights to the Middle East.
