Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has called a meeting of the Emergency Committee on Thursday to discuss the state of the corona virus epidemic worldwide. The WHO had held such a meeting three months earlier, when Covid-19 was declared an international emergency.

WHO Chief Tedros Adholm Ghebreyes has been enraged by how the United Nations (UN) health agency handled the Corona outbreak, which began in China in December and has now spread worldwide. Now this deadly virus has infected more than three million people and has killed about 2.25 lakh people.

Tedros said on Monday that the WHO had declared a health emergency on January 30, realizing the seriousness of the Covid-19, when there were no deaths and only 82 cases were registered outside China. He said, "The world should have listened carefully to WHO."

America and WHO

Let me tell you, WHO has faced severe criticism of US President Donald Trump. President Donald Trump stopped the agency's funding from the US earlier this month, stating that the WHO had failed to share epidemic information in a timely and transparent manner.

Now the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs in the US has started investigating the decision of the Trump Administration to stop funding from the World Health Organization (WHO). Committee chairman Eliot Engel gave this information. Engel said that even though the WHO was incomplete, the organization played an essential role of coordination among governments around the world and quickly declared it to be a health emergency and epidemic to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection.
