Why did Virat Kohli leave the captaincy, now revealed himself

Virat Kohli had recently decided to step down from the Test captaincy. Earlier in December 2021, he was stripped of the ODI captaincy, while he had already announced in September that he would step down as the captain of the shortest format after the T20 World Cup to be held in October-November 2021. However, the BCCI and selectors stripped him of the ODI captaincy and he later resigned as Test captain after a 2-1 loss against South Africa in January. Although he did not fully explain why he had resigned, he has now revealed why he did not want to continue as the captain.

According to Virat Kohli, he had set some goals for himself and when he achieved them, he decided to step down from the captaincy. The 33-year-old revealed more about the life span of a captain. Virat also admitted that his role as a batsman is more important than leading a team, which is why he stepped down as captain. Virat Kohli told during the fireside chat, "I got what I wanted as a captain. I think my role as a batsman is more important. You don't need to be the captain to be the leader of the team." "

Right-handed batsman Virat Kohli said, "When MS Dhoni resigned from the captaincy, he was part of the team. It is not that he was not the leader and he was the same person from whom we took a lot of suggestions." He further said, "When I became the captain, my main goal was to change the team culture, because there was no dearth of skills in India. There is hardly any country in the world with as many skilled players as there are skilled players in India. " Let us inform that now the limited-overs captaincy has been handed over to Rohit Sharma that Virat Kohli will be seen playing under his captaincy for the first time.
