World Cup Latest Points Table: In the ICC World Cup 2023, Afghanistan caused the third major upset and tasted defeat to Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. Afghanistan cheerfully achieved the target of 242 runs given by Sri Lanka in 45.2 overs by losing just 3 wickets. On behalf of the team, Azmatullah Umarzai batted brilliantly and scored 73 runs, while captain Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 58 runs. With this victory, Afghanistan has also made a major change in the points table.

 

Major reshuffle due to Afghanistan's victory

After defeating Sri Lanka, the Afghanistan team has reached the fifth position in the points table. Sri Lanka has suffered huge losses due to the defeat and the team has now slipped to sixth position. Due to Afghanistan's victory, Pakistan has also suffered a loss and Babar Azam & Company has now come to seventh position in the table. Defending champions England are at the bottom with five losses in 6 matches, while Bangladesh is at 9th and Netherlands is at eighth.

 

Team India on top

Team India remains at number one in the points table of World Cup 2023. The Indian team has won all its six matches played so far. South Africa is in second position with five wins in 6 matches. New Zealand is at third position with 4 wins and Australia is at fourth position after playing four matches.

 

Afghanistan made a big upset

The Afghanistan team created the third major upset in the World Cup 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. Afghan bowlers first performed brilliantly and bundled out Sri Lanka for 241 runs. After this, the team's batsmen showed a strong performance and gave Afghanistan their third win in the tournament. Azmatullah Omarzai and captain Shahidi played an unbroken century partnership.
