India achieved a big victory of 302 runs over Sri Lanka in the 33rd match of the World Cup 2023. By winning this match, Virat Kohli broke the big record of Sachin Tendulkar. Virat has now become India's most successful player. At the same time, in the world, only former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting and former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene are ahead of Virat on that list.

Virat has become the player who has won the most international matches for India. That means he has been a part of India's victory in most of the matches. He made this record in his name with the victory over Sri Lanka. Virat has played 514 international matches for India including all three formats i.e. Test, ODI, and T20, and won 308 matches. He was a part of the team in 166 defeats. During his tenure, seven international matches were tied and 21 matches were drawn. There was no result in 12 matches.
Sachin Tendulkar is at number two in this list. He played 664 matches for India and won 307 matches. He lost in 256 matches. Five matches were tied, while 72 matches were drawn. There was no result in 24 matches. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at number three on the list. He played 538 international matches for India. Out of these, he was a part of victory in 298 matches. They lost in 186 matches. Seven matches were tied and 30 matches were drawn, while 17 matches had no result.
If Virat is compared with the rest of the players in the world, he is in third place in the overall list after Ponting and Jayawardene. Ponting played 560 international matches for Australia and won 377 matches. He was defeated in 137. Five matches were tied and 29 matches were drawn, while 12 matches had no result. Talking about Jayawardene, he played 652 international matches for Sri Lanka and won 336 matches. They lost in 249 matches. Four matches were tied and 45 matches were drawn. There was no result in 18 matches.

Waqar did this thrice (twice in 1990 and once in 1994).
