Elon Musk has officially launched the much-awaited X Money feature, marking a major milestone in his vision of transforming X (formerly Twitter) into an "everything app." The new financial service is currently available to Premium and Premium+ subscribers in the United States, allowing users to access banking services without leaving the X platform.

The feature was initially tested through an invite-only beta program before its wider rollout began on July 27.

Musk's Vision for an 'Everything App'

The launch of X Money is part of Elon Musk's long-term strategy to transform X into a super app, similar to China's WeChat, where messaging, payments, shopping, banking, and digital services are integrated into one platform.

Musk has repeatedly stated that he wants X to manage users' complete financial lives, moving far beyond simple peer-to-peer payments.

Regulatory Scrutiny Continues

The expansion into banking has attracted attention from U.S. lawmakers.

Senator Elizabeth Warren previously questioned whether X possesses adequate safeguards to operate financial services responsibly, raising concerns over consumer protection, financial stability, and national security.

As X Money expands, regulators are expected to closely monitor the platform's compliance with banking and financial regulations.

What is a Super App?

A Super App combines multiple services within a single application, including:

Social networking

Messaging

Digital payments

Banking

Shopping

Bill payments

Financial services

With X Money, Elon Musk has taken another major step toward making X one of the world's first global "everything apps."
