Diplomacy: India decides to keep Chinese companies away from 5G tests, US welcomes

The recent decision by India to conduct 5G tests without Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE has been called a sovereign decision by the US. A US State Department official said that the United States was deeply concerned about the dangers of establishing networks with devices that could be interrupted or controlled by China.

 

 

US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that this was a sovereign decision by the Indian government, so we believe that you should take any comment about this from the Indian government. He went on to say that I can say more broadly that it is true that we are concerned about the dangers of networks based on devices that the PRC (People's Republic of China) can control or circumvent.

 

 

He said that allowing non-trustworthy telecom suppliers like Huawei or ZTE involves risks related to national security, privacy, and human rights. The Department of Telecommunications had on May 4 approved applications from telecom companies for 5G testing, although no company would use Chinese technology.

 

The Department of Telecommunications has approved the applications of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and MTNL. None of these companies are using the technology of Chinese companies. The list of telecom gear manufacturers approved by the Department of Telecommunications for 5G testing includes indigenously developed technologies of Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, C-Dot, and Reliance Jio.

 

This means that Chinese companies will not be part of the 5G trials. The move by the Department of Telecommunications indicates that the central government may prevent Chinese companies from participating in 5G telecom services to be launched in the country. China has regretted the government's decision not to allow its companies to participate in the 5G trial in India.
