G20: MEA said- a second meeting of foreign ministers will be held tomorrow, 40 delegations are expected to participate

Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said on Wednesday that the G-20 Foreign Ministers' meeting will be held tomorrow under the chairmanship of India. This will be the second meeting at the ministerial level. The venue will be the cultural center of Rashtrapati Bhavan. 40 delegations are expected to participate.

 

'Japanese Foreign Minister will not be able to come due to domestic reasons'

"We recognize that the Japanese Foreign Minister is unable to attend due to domestic compulsions, but we look forward to consultation, active participation, and support from the visiting Japanese delegation," he added. The meeting will also focus on the economic impact and other implications of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on the world, the foreign secretary said.

 

Jaishankar will chair the meeting of foreign ministers

Foreign Secretary Kwatra said this is one of the largest meetings of foreign ministers organized by any G-20 president. During the meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will chair two sessions of the Foreign Ministers' meeting. The first session will focus on issues related to multilateralism, food, and energy. The second session will focus on four or five key issues, including new emerging threats, countering terrorism, and narcotics.

 

Negotiations, Diplomacy Way Forward in Ukraine War

India's stand on the Russia-Ukraine conflict is that 'this is not the time for war'. Dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward. The agenda of the foreign ministers is to be discussed in the meeting. Given the situation, it will be an important point of discussion during the Russia-Ukraine Foreign Ministers' meeting. EAM will focus on the Russia-Ukraine situation. It will be important to see what they (foreign ministers of different countries) come out with, and what understanding develops.
