The US has approved the sale of arms worth $619 million to Taiwan. Under this, Taiwan will now be able to get F-16 Fleet missiles. The US move comes at a time when the Chinese Air Force recently violated Taiwan's airspace. Relations between China and America are also going on tense, in such a situation, the sale of fresh weapons to Taiwan can increase further bitterness in the relations between the two countries. China claims Taiwan and that is why it strongly opposes any kind of arms sale to Taiwan.

On Wednesday, the US Department of Defense Pentagon said that the US government has decided to sell 200 anti-aircraft advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles and 100 AGM-88B HARM missiles to Taiwan. The latest deal will help Taiwan defend its airspace. Taiwan's Defense Ministry issued a statement saying that with the receipt of these missiles, we will be able to protect our airspace and respond to the provocative action of the Chinese Army.

Raytheon Technologies and Lockheed Martin have received contracts under the deal with Taiwan. At the same time, China has been banned by China for selling arms to Taiwan. On Thursday too, the Chinese Air Force violated Taiwan's airspace. Taiwan's Ministry of Defense says that in the last 24 hours, 21 Chinese aircraft have violated Taiwan's airspace. Since China considers Taiwan as its territory, it claims that it does so to protect sovereignty.
