PM Modi: 'The SP is both anti-development and anti-women' — PM Modi remarks while inaugurating the Ganga Expressway; Key Highlights.

Posted on 29th Apr 2026 05:01 pm by rohit kumar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 594-km-long, access-controlled Greenfield Ganga Expressway in Hardoi. Built at a total cost of approximately ₹36,230 crore, the Ganga Expressway is expected to reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from the current 10–12 hours to approximately 6 hours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, "I believe that this boon of expressways bestowed upon Uttar Pradesh is, in fact, a blessing from Mother Ganga herself. Now, you can reach the Sangam in just a few hours, and even return after offering prayers to Baba in Kashi. Just as Mother Ganga has served as the lifeline of Uttar Pradesh and this nation for thousands of years, so too, in this era of modern progress, will this expressway—running alongside her—become a new lifeline for the development of UP."

'I am delighted that the UP government has named this expressway after Mother Ganga'

Prime Minister Modi remarked, "I am delighted that the UP government has named this expressway after Mother Ganga. This reflects both our vision for development and our reverence for our heritage. I congratulate the crores of people of UP on the Ganga Expressway."

Voting in Bengal is taking place in a fearless atmosphere this time: Modi

PM Modi stated that voting in Bengal is currently taking place in a fearless atmosphere—something that had not occurred in the last 6–7 decades, and which was previously difficult even to imagine. People are casting their votes without any fear. This stands as a sacred symbol of the country's Constitution and its strengthening democracy. I express my gratitude to the people of Bengal for being so vigilant regarding their rights and for turning out in large numbers to vote.

The second phase of voting is currently underway in Bengal: Modi

PM Modi noted that today marks a significant day in the celebration of democracy. The second phase of voting is currently underway in Bengal, and reports coming in indicate a massive voter turnout across the state. Much like the first phase, the public is stepping out of their homes in large numbers to cast their votes; images of long queues at polling stations are dominating social media platforms. 'The BJP is set to score a hat-trick of historic victories in the elections across these five states as well'

PM Modi stated that a short while ago, when elections were held in Bihar, the BJP-NDA registered a resounding victory, thereby creating history. Just yesterday, the election results for the Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, District Panchayats, Nagar Panchayats, and Tehsil Panchayats in Gujarat were declared. The BJP has won 80 to 85 percent of the municipalities and panchayats. I am confident that, in the elections across these five states as well, the BJP is poised to achieve a hat-trick of historic victories. The results of May 4th will strengthen the resolve for a 'Developed India' (Viksit Bharat). They will infuse the pace of the nation's development with renewed energy.

'These modern lines of destiny are today heralding India's bright future'

PM Modi remarked that just a few days ago, he had the opportunity to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. At that time, he had stated that these newly constructed expressways represent the 'lines of destiny' of a developing India—and today, these modern lines of destiny are heralding India's bright future.

PM Says: 'That Era is Gone Now'

PM Modi asserted that the era when one had to wait for decades for a single road project is now a thing of the past. Once an announcement was made, files would languish in bureaucratic channels for years. Foundation stones would be laid merely for the sake of elections; subsequently, governments would come and go, yet there would be absolutely no sign of any actual work being undertaken. At times, senior officials would have to toil for up to two years just to locate old project files. Under a 'Double-Engine Government,' the foundation stone is laid, and the project is invariably inaugurated within the stipulated timeframe.

'This will also bring the immense potential of the NCR closer to realization': Modi

PM Modi noted that the Ganga Expressway not only connects one end of Uttar Pradesh to the other, but it will also bring the immense potential of the National Capital Region (NCR) closer to realization.

'UP used to be labeled a backward and 'BIMARU' state'

PM Modi recalled that, in the past, Uttar Pradesh was often labeled a backward and 'BIMARU' (ailing) state; today, that very same Uttar Pradesh is marching forward on the path to becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy. UP possesses immense potential; it holds the potential of the country's vast youth population, and we are harnessing this strength to transform UP into a manufacturing hub.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Samajwadi Party (SP) can never rise above dynastic politics and casteism. These people will always engage in anti-development politics. Uttar Pradesh must remain vigilant against the SP and its allies.

PM Modi remarked that you can observe how the entire world today is engulfed in war, unrest, and instability. Even major global powers are facing dire circumstances. Yet, India continues to advance on the path of development with undiminished momentum. India's adversaries are displeased by this progress. Certain elements within the country, driven by a hunger for power, are constantly attempting to undermine India's stature. Nevertheless, we remain not only secure but are also setting new benchmarks in development. We are driving forward the campaign for an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India). We are constructing state-of-the-art infrastructure; the Ganga Expressway stands as a significant stride in this very direction.
