4 lakh people affected by rain-floods in Odisha: Rescue of 10 fishermen stranded in the sea in Gujarat's Valsad; Chhattisgarh lost contact with Andhra-Telangana

Rain continues in many states of the country. Due to heavy rains in Odisha for two days, many districts are affected by floods. 4.67 lakh people are affected due to rain-flood in the state. The Banas river was in spate due to heavy rains in Banaskantha, Gujarat on Wednesday. Due to this, the Palanpur-Abu road was closed from one side. Ten fishermen who were stranded in the sea about 13 nautical miles off the coast of Valsad were rescued.

 

On the other hand, the Shivnath river is in spate due to continuous rains in Chhattisgarh, while the water level of the Godavari and Shabari rivers is also increasing continuously. Chhattisgarh has lost contact with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana via Konta for the last 9 days.

 

Monsoon rains have caused heavy damage to life and property in Himachal. In the last 49 days, more than 200 people have lost their lives in the state due to road accidents, cloudbursts, floods, landslides, etc. Maximum of 34 people have died in the Shimla district, while 377 people have been injured. At the same time, seven people are missing for a long time.

 

Gujarat: Warning of heavy rain in many districts for two days

 

A new round of monsoon has started in Gujarat. Meghraja is raining heavily in many parts of the state, in such a situation, the Meteorological Department has again declared Orange Alert in 8 districts on Tuesday and Yellow Alert in 7 districts on Wednesday 17th August. Apart from this, Orange Alert has been declared in 3 districts of South Gujarat.

 

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain for the next two days. Due to incessant rains, water logging has arisen at many places in Ahmedabad.

 

Chhattisgarh: NH-30 closed for 9 days

 

Due to incessant rains in Chhattisgarh, the problems of the people are increasing. Due to rain, the water level of Godavari has reached above 50 feet. Flood waters have receded on NH-30 near Veerapuram in the border area. The road has been closed for the last 9 days, leading to long queues of vehicles on both sides. Truck drivers are also facing huge problems. The Godavari was at 51.50 feet and the Shabari river at 21.530 meters till Wednesday afternoon. Water is also being released from Hirakud Dam in Odisha. Due to this, the water level in Godavari and Shabari has started rising.

 

Madhya Pradesh: 92% more rain in Bhopal so far and 20% more in the state

After 48 hours of heavy rain in the capital, there may have been a respite from the sunshine on Wednesday, but it is not for long. The reason for this is that after two-three days, once again it may rain for three-four days in a row. Light rain is expected in the last week of August and good rains in September. According to the Meteorological Department, out of the remaining 13 days of August, it may rain for 6 or 7 days.

 

It is likely to form over the northern part of the Bay of Bengal on August 19. On August 13, a similar monsoon system was formed here, which turned into a depression and reached Madhya Pradesh via Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. The system, which will be formed on August 19, is also likely to move on the same track.

 

The Monsoon Trough Line is also likely to further slide further down during this period. If this happens, then from August 20, there may be rain in most parts of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal for three-four days. The state has received 30.87 inches of rain so far. The normal rainfall so far is 20% more than 25.63 inches.

 

According to the Meteorological Department, apart from the rainy season from August 20 to 23, there may be a gap on 24, 25 of the rest of August. Light rain may occur on 26 and 27. Then 28, 29, and 30 are likely to get some relief. After that, it can start raining again from 31.

 

It is expected to rain for the first two-three days of September, then a gap of a week. From September 10 to 11, it may rain again for two to three days. After this, the rain will stop for a few days, then after 21 and 22 September, the forecast of light rain of the retreating rain i.e. before the departure of the monsoon.
