Smartphone use is increasing worldwide, especially among children between the ages of 9 and 19. A report by the UK's Office of Communications has revealed that 91% of UK children have their smartphone by the age of 11. According to the report, when these children are 19 years old, 65% of them become victims of depression. 37% of 9 to 11-year-olds in the US have a smartphone of their own.

90% of teenagers in Europe have a smartphone by the age of 19

In 19 European countries, 80% of children under the age of 13 use the Internet every day. By the age of 19, 90% of teenagers have their smartphones. Cambridge University Prof. Amy Orban says that even children up to eight years old create social media accounts. They are more likely to be abused online.

Orban believes that it is important to maintain a balance between the use of smartphones and social media, as these may not directly affect the brain but can harm indirectly. In research conducted on 1700 children, they found that 11 to 13-year-old girls and 14-15-year-old boys who start using social media are less satisfied with life later.

On the other hand, those who did not use social media were found to be more satisfied. Children are more attracted to smartphones because of social media.

If children use smartphones, then parents should also control them.

London School of Economics Prof. Sonia Livingstone believes that the internet and smartphones are essential for our children at this time. This enables the children to connect with society in a new way. Know about the answers to many questions, but it is important to have control of the parents.
