Amazon Prime Price Hike: Becoming a Prime member in India will be expensive! The company is going to increase the prices of Prime membership

There is important news for Prime members in Amazon the giant e-commerce platform can make Amazon Prime membership in India up to 50 percent costlier. This means that people will have to pay double the amount to use Amazon Prime. As per the update, the Amazon Prime membership will now be available for Rs 1,499, up from the current Rs 999. The updated prices of Amazon Prime were released on Wednesday on the Help and Customer Service page on amazon. The website revealed that apart from regular customers, customers who have joined Amazon Prime as a part of their telecom plans will also see a hike in prices.

 

The changes will also be applicable for monthly and quarterly Amazon Prime membership plans in the country. Amazon Prime includes online sales as well as benefits such as Prime Video, Amazon Music, Prime Reading, and Prime Gaming.

Amazon Prime Membership Price

 

In the FAQ, Amazon India confirmed that the price of Prime membership is changing 'very soon, however, the exact date for the price change will be announced later. The company has assured that existing users and customers can continue their subscription for the duration of their plan at the current price. According to the company, when your free trial or membership period ends, they will automatically charge you for the next subscription period based on the revised Amazon Prime membership price. Currently, the annual subscription is available at Rs 999, monthly at Rs 129, and quarterly at Rs 329.

 

Updated Amazon Prime Membership Price

 

The new price of Amazon Prime has become almost 50% expensive. Its monthly plan has been increased from Rs 129 to Rs 179, its quarterly prices have been increased from Rs 459 to Rs 329 and its annual rate has been increased from Rs 1,499 to Rs 999. In addition, Amazon Prime will also revise its prices in the country for customers in the age group of 18-24 who are part of their special Prime Youth Offer from May 2021. However, in this case, the prices are being slashed. Monthly and quarterly Prime membership fees were reduced from Rs 164 to Rs 64 and Rs 299 to Rs 89 for young customers. Also, its annual charge has been reduced from Rs 749 to Rs 499.

 

Amazon to update users for price hike

 

Amazon has updated its webpage showing the Prime membership fees. The company has also started notifying customers about the update through its online marketplace. The company said on its updated webpage that apart from regular customers, customers who are connected to Amazon Prime under their telecom plans will also see a hike in prices. This is the second time Amazon has changed its subscription rates after launching its Prime membership in India in 2016. From Rs. In 2017, Amazon revised the annual price of Rs 499 to Rs 999.

 

In the US, Amazon offers its Prime membership for $12.99 (approximately Rs. 1,000) per month or $119 (approximately Rs. 8,900) per year. Prime Video subscription is also available separately for $8.99 (approximately Rs.700) per month.
