Facing tensions on both the fronts of Pakistan and China, India fears that both countries may become a threat to India by collusion. Army Chief MM Narwane said in a press conference on Tuesday that Pakistan and China together could become a formidable threat and the possibility of their connivance cannot be ignored. He said that cooperation between China and Pakistan in both military and civilian areas is increasing. This danger on both fronts is such that we have to prepare in advance. However, he also said that the Indian Army is fully prepared to deal with every threat facing the country.
The army chief also targeted Pakistan over cross-border terrorism. He said that Pakistan is constantly promoting terrorism, it has been continuously using terrorism as a tool of state policy. The Indian Army is adopting a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism. We have the right to respond to cross-border terrorism on time and we have a very clear position that we will not tolerate terrorism. He said that a comprehensive roadmap has been prepared through which the Army will be technology-enabled to meet the challenges in the future.
The army chief told that the Indian Army is alert on the entire northern border not only in Ladakh. The army has received instructions from the government to remain stationed on the front in eastern Ladakh. Negotiations at various levels are expected to yield a solution. At the same time, the ninth round of talks with China is awaited.
He told that the Indian Army is alert on all the northern borders. China has developed infrastructure in the central and eastern regions of the LAC. We are constantly monitoring this and we keep making changes in our preparedness based on geopolitical events and threats. He said that because of what happened last year, we will have to change our capabilities afresh and expand them. On the ongoing deadlock in eastern Ladakh, the army chief said - Hopefully, we will be able to reach an agreement to withdraw troops and reduce tension.
"Army pilots will be recruited from the course starting in July and within the next one-year women pilots will be seen on the flying front," he said.
