Chennai, April 7 (IANS) The nomination paper of BJP candidate S.Gurumurthy from Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris (reserved) constituency were rejected during scrutiny Monday, poll officials said.
The seat is currently held by DMK's A.Raja, who will now face the poll battle with minus one major opponent.
According to officials, the rules as to filing of nominations were not complied with by the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. Even the papers of BJP's standby candidate D.Anbarasan have been rejected.
The BJP has sewed up a six party alliance in Tamil Nadu. The party's candidates had filed their nomination papers from eight constituencies.
Similarly in the Chidambaram constituency, the nomination papers of PMK candidate K.J. Manirathinam were rejected while his wife V.Sudha's papers were accepted.
In a statement, PMK president G.k. Mani has appealed to the party cadres to strive hard for her victory.
