British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reached India on a two-day visit today. After reaching Sabarmati Ashram, he garlanded Bapu's picture. After that, the yarn was spun by spinning the spinning wheel. In the visitor's book here, he wrote- "It is a great privilege to be in the ashram of this extraordinary man. To understand how he inspired to change the world for the better to improve upon such simple principles of truth and non-violence."
He is accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Here he was gifted by Mahatma Gandhi's disciple Madeleine Slade aka Miraben's autobiography 'The Spirits Pilgrimage' from the Sabarmati Ashram. This book is one of the two books of Mahatma Gandhi, which were never published. Earlier on reaching Ahmedabad, he was given a grand welcome.
This is the first time that a British Prime Minister is visiting Gujarat. In Gujarat, the British PM will announce several important investment proposals for joint trade. Both India and Britain are showing a positive attitude towards the Free Trade Agreement. It is expected that this visit of Johnson will make significant progress in this direction. The UK is keen to take the annual turnover with India to 2.89 lakh crores.
Johnson's India tour will start from Ahmedabad
The British Prime Minister will attend several programs in Gujarat on Thursday. After this, he will leave for Delhi in the evening. Will have a summit meeting with Modi on April 22. Before the British PM visits India, there is a lot of discussion about the 'New Era Trade Deal' (Early Harvest Deal). This deal is being told apart from the free trade agreement.
This early harvest deal will cover not only goods and services and investments but also intellectual property rights, geographic indication (GI tag), and sustainable development. It is likely to be signed during Johnson's visit.

India will also take its side in Ukraine war
There will also be talks on the Ukraine war between Modi and Johnson. India will take its stand. Western countries want to see India standing with them in this war. While India maintains a neutral stand, India has raised its voice in favor of peace through meetings with leaders of many Western countries.
Experts predict that Indo-Pacific will also be the main issue in the Modi-Johnson meeting. Britain strongly opposes any kind of coercion in this area. On the other hand, India advocates for keeping this region open to all.
Looking for economic opportunities with India after Brexit
Britain has broken ties with the European Union (EU). Now from trade with India, Johnson is bringing hope of cooperation in the field of consumer goods to reduce inflation in his country. Knowledge-sharing partnership with the UK is an important agenda of Johnson's visit.
