The Supreme Court has directed all the states and union territories to pay compensation to the kin of the corona dead without wasting any time. If any claimant has a complaint about non-payment of the compensation amount. Or else, if they have any complaints regarding the rejection of their claim, they can approach the concerned Grievance Redressal Committee. A bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice BV Nagaratna gave this order on Monday. The bench also directed the Grievance Redressal Committee to decide on the application of the claimants within four weeks.

The Andhra Pradesh government has been accused of transferring money from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) accounts to personal deposit accounts. On the petition filed in this regard, the bench directed to send the concerned amount to the SDRF account within two days. "We are directed to all the states under our earlier order to ensure payment of compensation to the eligible persons without delay. If any claimant has any grievance, he may approach the concerned Grievance Redressal Committee," the bench said.

SC also reprimanded the Andhra Pradesh government

The Supreme Court had earlier given the Andhra government "one last chance" to file its reply on a plea alleging remittance of funds from SDRF to personal deposit accounts. The court had also issued a notice in this regard to the state government, restraining it from transferring the money.

Advocate Gaurav Bansal, appearing for petitioner Palla Srinivasa Rao, had argued that the Andhra government has transferred money from the SDRF account to personal deposit accounts, which is not valid under the Disaster Management Act. Bansal had alleged that the state government was using the SDRF funds for works other than those prescribed under Section 46(2) of the Disaster Management Act 2005.
