DRDO did another feat, DISPOVAN prepared Corona Antibody Test Kit

Posted on 21st May 2021 05:20 pm by rohit kumar

After the invention of the drug 2DG for Corona patients, DRDO has now done a new feat. The Defense Research Organization has designed the Corona Virus Antibody Detection Kit. The kit is named 'DIPCOVAN'. Through this SARS-CoV-2 virus as well as nucleocapsid (S&N) proteins can also be detected with high sensitivity of 97% and specificity of 99%. It has been developed in collaboration with Delhi-based Vanguard Diagnostics Private Limited. This kit is completely indigenous and has been developed by scientists here. Subsequently, its capacity was verified after extensive investigation on samples of more than 1000 patients at various COVID hospitals in Delhi.

Validity has been granted to three batches of this kit in the last year. In April 2021, the kit was accredited by the Indian Council of Medical Research. Now in May, this product has also been approved by the India Drugs Controller General of India. Now, this kit can be sold in the open market. The purpose of preparing the DIPCOVAN kit is to detect the antibodies or plasma needed to fight the corona in the human body. The validity of this kit will be 18 months. The kit has been manufactured by DRDO in association with Vanguard Diagnostics Private Limited.

Vanguard will launch it in the first week of June. 100 kits will be provided in the first batch. After this, 500 kits will be ready every month. The price of this kit will be around Rs 75 per test. This kit will help in finding out about the ability of a person to fight the corona and his previous history. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised the DRDO's effort. Let me tell you that this week the Indian Council of Medical Research has also approved a home testing kit called Covicelf, which is a rapid antigen test kit. With the help of this kit, people will be able to do their corona test by sitting at home.
