General Milley expressed condolences regarding the flood

"The senior military commanders discussed issues of mutual interest, including the current security environment in Pakistan and the region," Colonel Dave Butler, spokesman for the US Joint Staff, said of the conversation. He said that General Miley also expressed his condolences regarding the situation in Pakistan after the floods. Due to the flood, there was huge devastation in Pakistan.

 

A motion introduced in the House of Representatives

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives to express solidarity with the people of Pakistan and share their feelings during this grave time, to support Pakistan during its reconstruction effort. The resolution said that the American society feels the tragedy of Pakistan personally and is united. The resolution said that the Biden administration should act to grant temporary protected status to Pakistani nationals who currently reside in the United States.

 

People do not even have clean drinking water

Due to the floods in June 2022, one-third of the country was submerged in water, which had a direct impact on the lives of 30 million Pakistanis. The resolution said that more than 1,700 people lost their lives, a third of whom were children, and 12,900 people were injured. 20,600,000 people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance and 7,900,000 are displaced. It states that currently, more than 5.5 million Pakistanis do not even have clean water to drink. Waterborne diseases remain a major concern in many areas.
