Even after heavy rains in Delhi, there was no waterlogging in Minto Road, watch video

The rain on Thursday morning brought great relief to the people of Delhi, who were suffering from the heat. But at the same time, the rain also increased their trouble. In fact, due to the heavy monsoon rains, many parts of Delhi such as ITO, Barapula, Ring Road, and borders of the national capital, especially the Delhi-Noida border, Chilla border, UP Gate, Delhi-Gurugram road were jammed.

But the surprising thing is that despite so much rain, there was no water logging on Minto Road in Delhi this time. Last year, a DTC bus, as well as some other vehicles, were submerged on the same road due to rain.

Significantly, in 2020, so much water was filled here that a 56-year-old man drowned in it. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said earlier this month that the Delhi government was ready to tackle the problem of waterlogging.

In the first week of June, Sisodia held a review meeting with the officials of the Public Works Department (PWD). In the meeting, Manish Sisodia has instructed the officials that the work being done to prevent water logging at all the identified places should be completed before the monsoon so that the general public does not face any kind of problem during the monsoon.

A senior PWD official said on Thursday that there was no need to worry about flooding in the tunnel as automatic pumps have been constructed along with underground pumps. This will enable faster discharge of stormwater in case of heavy rains. Temporary pumps will also be kept on standby so that they can be quickly deployed whenever necessary.

According to senior PWD officials, the department has marked seven places as 'serious' in case of waterlogging. Apart from Minto Bridge, there is an underpass on IP Estate Ring Road near WHO Building, Bridge Prahladpur, Zakhira, Okhla, Azadpur, and Jahangirpuri Metro Station Road.
