Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the violence during the Ram Navami procession in Howrah. Smriti Irani accused CM Mamta Banerjee of giving clean chit to stone pelters.

An incident happened during Lakshmi Puja in 2022 as well- Smriti

Irani further said that this is not the first incident that happened during Mamta's tenure. Earlier in 2022, when Dalits were worshiping Lakshmi Puja, they were attacked. Even then she was silent. Let us tell you that during Ram Navami celebrations on Thursday, several vehicles were set on fire in a clash between two groups in Howrah. During the procession, rioters vandalized public and private properties and set vehicles on fire.

 

The bengal government handed over the investigation to CID

Let us tell you that the West Bengal government handed over the investigation of the violence in Howrah during Ram Navami to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday. A special team headed by Inspector General of Police, CID Sunil Chowdhary has taken up the investigation. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose and took stock of the situation in Howrah violence.

Apart from this, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to West Bengal BJP President Sukant Majumdar over the phone and inquired about the law and order situation in the state. At the same time, the West Bengal BJP chief on Friday wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the violence in Howrah during Ram Navami.
