India will boycott Winter Olympics, lashing out at China's stand on Galvan

Posted on 3rd Feb 2022 06:08 pm by rohit kumar

The Indian government has spoken on the handing over of the Winter Olympic torch by China to the soldier injured in the military skirmish with India in the Galvan Valley. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has called it regrettable. He has said that China has politicized the Winter Olympics by making a Chinese commander involved in the Galwan encounter a torchbearer.

On the question of India's participation in the Beijing Winter Olympics, he said that the Ambassador in charge of India at the Indian Embassy in Beijing will not attend the opening and closing ceremony of the Olympics.

China made the Winter Olympics the hub of politics

On the one hand, China has consistently said that politics should not be done regarding the Beijing Winter Olympics. Questions are being raised by many European countries including America about the Olympics, which China is opposing. On the other hand, China itself has made Winter Olympics a political ground and is spreading its propaganda through it.

The US has condemned the handing over of the Winter Olympic torch by China to the jawan injured in the military skirmish with India in the Galvan Valley. Terming this move of China as shameful, the US said that it is an attempt to politicize the games.

Tension continues on the border between the two countries

Tension continues between India and China over the border dispute in many areas including Ladakh. So far 14 rounds of talks have been held between the two sides but no conclusion has been reached so far. However, both countries have spoken of resolving the issue among themselves and have opposed any third-party interference.
