Lok Sabha Phase 3 Voting: 64.58 percent voting on 93 seats in the third phase, highest voting in Assam at 81.71 percent

In the third phase of Lok Sabha elections, an average of 64.58 percent voting took place on 93 seats in 11 states and union territories on Tuesday. The highest number of votes were cast in Assam at 81.71 percent and the least in Uttar Pradesh at 57.34 percent. Voting in West Bengal has been peaceful except for sporadic violence. Changes in the voting percentage are still expected as the final figures have not been released by the Election Commission.


 

With voting on 280 seats in the third phase, elections for more than half of the Lok Sabha seats were completed. Meanwhile, incidents of violence again came to light in West Bengal. Most of the incidents took place in Murshidabad and Jangipur. Clashes broke out between workers of the ruling Trinamool Congress, BJP, and Congress in both areas. All three parties have lodged complaints regarding election violence.

In this phase, the fate of many Union Ministers including Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been sealed in EVMs. Shah is contesting from Gandhinagar. Union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia are in the fray from Guna, Mansukh Mandaviya from Porbandar, Purushottam Rupala from Rajkot, Prahlad Joshi from Dharwad and SP Singh Baghel from Agra. Former Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Chauhan is a candidate from Vidisha, Digvijay Singh is from Rajgarh, and NCP leader Supriya Sule is from Baramati.


 

PM Modi voted in Gandhinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in Gandhinagar and Home Minister Amit Shah cast his vote in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and State Minister Priyank Kharge were among the first to vote in Karnataka. In Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar voted with his wife Sunetra Pawar, the NDA candidate from Baramati. NCP's other faction president Sharad Pawar also voted in Malegaon, Baramati. In Assam, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his wife Riniki Bhuyan and daughter Sukanya cast his vote in the Amingaon of Barpeta seat.


 

The bus bringing back the polling party burnt to ashes in Betul

After the completion of the third phase of voting, a bus returning with polling material and employees from six polling stations in Betul caught fire on Tuesday night. The bus was destroyed in the fire. All employees are safe in the accident. There is news of partial damage to voting material. However, the situation regarding voting material is not clear yet. Another bus was called to the spot to bring election staff and EVMs. The accident took place between the Bisnur and Pauni Gaula villages of Saikheda police station area. The bus driver jumped from the burning bus, while the employees barely escaped. As soon as the information was received, officers and police from Betul reached the spot. The fire was controlled by calling fire brigades from Betul, Multai, and Aathner.
