CBI probing 17 cases

Let us tell you that the CBI is going to investigate nine more cases related to Manipur violence recently. Earlier, the CBI was probing eight cases, that is, a total of 17 cases are currently being investigated by the CBI. In addition to violence, these investigations also include cases of  harassment.

More than 160 people died in violence

Let us tell you that ethnic violence is going on in Manipur since May 3, in which more than 160 people have died. Clashes broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities after a 'Tribal Solidarity March' was organized to protest against the demand for Scheduled Tribe status of the majority Meitei community in the state.

The Meitei people account for about 53 percent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley, while the tribals, including the Nagas and Kukis, account for 40 percent and live mostly in the hill districts.
