The central government has increased the maximum support price (MSP) on paddy by Rs 72 per quintal. This increased the MSP of paddy to Rs 1,940 per quintal for the financial year 2021-22. In the previous financial year, the MSP of paddy stood at Rs 1,868 per quintal. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval to the proposal to increase the maximum support price. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar gave this information on Wednesday. Several other decisions were also taken in the meeting of the Union Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Agriculture Minister said that the maximum support price for crops is being increased and it will be done in future also.

Modi government committed to doubling the income of farmers of the country.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the Minimum Support Price for all Kharif crops for the Kharif marketing season 2021-22.

Tomar tweeted and said, "In the last 7 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many such decisions were taken one after the other in the field of agriculture, which would increase the income of the farmer, attract the farmer towards expensive crops, in the farmer's house. May prosperity comes and farming becomes profitable.

He said that 'It is a revolutionary decision of the Modi government to fix the MSP at the level of 1.5 times the cost of production (or at least 50% profit on the cost of production).'

Tomar said that compared to last year's 372.23 lakh MT procurement, so far more than 416.95 lakh MT wheat has been procured, benefiting about 45.67 lakh farmers.

"Rs 82,347.39 crore has been transferred directly to farmers through DBT for procurement of wheat in Rabi Marketing Season 2020-21 (till 6th June 2021)," he said.

Tomar has said in a series of tweets, 'Rs 1,53,515.20 crore has been transferred directly to the farmers through DBT for the purchase of paddy in the Rabi marketing season 2020-21 (till 6th June 2021).
