Oxford Hindi word of the year became self-reliance, know why this word became so special

Oxford has chosen the term 'Self-reliance' as the Oxford Hindi Word of the Year 2019. Oxford says the term refers to the day-to-day achievements of countless Indians who fought relentlessly to deal with the threat of the Corona epidemic. The term was selected by a panel of language experts including Kritika Aggarwal, Poonam Nigam Sahay, and Imogen Foxtel.

 

Oxford Hindi Word of the Year is a word that reflects the sentiment and mood of the bygone year. At the same time, it also has enduring potential of cultural importance.

 

The Oxford Language said in a statement that in the early months of the Covid-19 epidemic, when PM Modi announced a package for health facilities, he was also self-reliant on the country, economy, society, and the individual to tackle the problem. Was stressed.

 

Oxford said that the use of the word 'self-reliance' increased considerably after PM Modi's address. It was widely spread in the public life of Indians.

 

Apart from this, the government's 'Self-reliant India' campaign was strengthened due to the manufacture of the Covid-19 vaccine in India itself. The Department of Biotechnology in its tableau during the Republic Day Parade also gave a glimpse of vaccine manufacture under the 'Self-reliant India' campaign.

 

Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, managing director of Oxford University Press India, said that 'self-sufficient India gained recognition among the people of many sectors as it was also seen as a weapon to deal with the economy affected by Covid-19.

 

The Oxford Dictionary team solicits thousands of applications for the selection of the best Hindi word of the year through its Facebook page. After this, with the help of an advisory panel of language experts, the word-final selection is stamped. The best Hindi word for 2019 was chosen as ‘Constitution’. Earlier, Aadhaar (2017) and Nari Shakti (2018) were also voted the best Hindi words.
