Oxford has chosen the term 'Self-reliance' as the Oxford Hindi Word of the Year 2019. The term was selected by a panel of language experts including Kritika Aggarwal, Poonam Nigam Sahay, and Imogen Foxtel.

The Oxford Dictionary team solicits thousands of applications for the selection of the best Hindi word of the year through its Facebook page. After this, with the help of an advisory panel of language experts, the word-final selection is stamped. The best Hindi word for 2019 was chosen as ‘Constitution’. Earlier, Aadhaar (2017) and Nari Shakti (2018) were also voted the best Hindi words.
