The fear of death is haunting the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. In such a situation, he has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, requesting adequate security arrangements for his appearance in the court.

According to the report of The Express Tribune, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said in the letter I want to draw your attention to a very important issue. Since the ouster of my government through a regime change campaign, I have faced suspicious FIRs, threats, and eventually even an attempt to assassinate me.

Imran Khan alleged through the letter that the current Prime Minister and the Interior Minister were involved in the failed assassination plot against him. He further said that there are clear indications of another assassination attempt against me.

74 cases registered against Imran so far

The former Prime Minister said that till now 74 cases have been registered against me and I often have to appear in court for a hearing. I am the president of the largest political party in the country and wherever I go, huge crowds naturally follow me. He further emphasized that the right to life is a fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution. There are clear indications of another assassination attempt on my life, he added.

According to the report, Imran Khan in his last appearance before the Lahore High Court said that there was a complete failure of security. The same happened in Islamabad when he had to appear in court separately. In such a situation, Imran Khan requested the Chief Justice to take action against the people in power regarding the danger facing him and ensure adequate security arrangements when his presence in the court is necessary.
