Parliament: The number of children with anemia has increased from 58 to 67 percent in five years. Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya told in the Lok Sabha on Friday that the number of children in the age group of six months to five years with anemia has increased by more than nine percent in the National Family Health Survey.

 

 

In the survey conducted in the year 2015-16, the cases of anemia were 58.60 percent, which has now increased to 67.1 percent. The Health Minister said that the highest anemia among children is in Ladakh (90 percent). This is followed by Gujarat (80 percent), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (76 percent), Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir (73), and Punjab and Rajasthan with 71 percent of children deficient in hemoglobin.

 

 

The duration of the precautionary dose was reduced on the advice of the committee

 

Minister of State for Health Bharti Praveen Pawar said that the decision to reduce the duration of the precautionary dose was taken on the advice of the Vaccination Committee. He said that till August 1, 9.07 crore people in the country have been given precautionary doses, which is about 13 percent.

 

Strict action on cases related to treatment claims

Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha in this regard, Minister of State for External Affairs M Muraleedharan said, "Such a move by either side will affect India's autonomy and territorial integrity." Such activity is illegal and unacceptable. India will take appropriate steps on this.

 

Compulsory voting is not practical in India

 

The government said that the proposal of compulsory voting is not practical in a vast country like India. During the discussion on the private bill introduced by Janardan Singh Sigriwal (BJP) in 2019, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice SP Singh Baghel said, we are aware of the sentiment of the member that everyone should vote but there is a punishment for not voting. The offer is not practical.

 

105 guidelines issued for social media

 

Under the new IT rules, the government has so far issued 105 guidelines for social media. On Friday, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar told in the Rajya Sabha that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued these instructions under the new rules.

 

The minister said that 94 instructions were issued to YouTube to block content between December 2021 and April 2022, five to Twitter, and three each to Facebook and Instagram. Chandrashekhar said the government's policies are aimed at ensuring an open, secure, and accountable internet. He informed that the government implemented IT rules on February 25, 2021, to make social media platforms accountable and enhance the security of users.

 

The committee expressed unhappiness over the violation of the Disability Act

 

The Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment has expressed displeasure over the violation of the provisions of the Disability Act 2016. The committee presented its report in the Lok Sabha on Friday on the government's action to the law. Redressal of grievances is an important right under the Act, the committee said. If this is not followed then it will be an injustice to the persons concerned.

 

Approval for procurement of military equipment worth Rs 1.83 lakh crore

 

The government on Friday said it has given necessary approvals (AONs) for the procurement of military equipment worth Rs 1,83,778 crore from 2020-21 to date. Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt told in Lok Sabha, that AON is the first step towards procurement of any military equipment and hardware under the Defense Procurement Norms. After the AON, the respective service and defense ministries proceed with the process of tendering and contracting.
