People who have defeated Omicron are capable of fighting 'any variant' of Corona, study reveals

Good news has come to the fore in the research done about the Omicron variant of Corona, which has created havoc all over the world. Two studies have found that patients who have received both doses of the vaccine have better immunity to Omicron infection than the booster shot. Simply put, people who have had both doses of corona and later have an Omicron infection may not need a booster shot to fight another variant. That is, their immunity has probably been strengthened due to Omicron infection. Teams from Covid-19 vaccine maker BioNTech SE and the University of Washington have released the results of a study on the preprint server BioRxiv in recent weeks.

The data comes at a time when Omicron is spreading across the globe, particularly in China, where residents of Shanghai have been placed under lockdown for nearly six weeks. The BioNTech team argued that the study's data indicates that people should be given an Omicron-adapted booster shot. He said the booster shot made for Omicron may be more beneficial than many of the vaccines made with the original vaccine.

In a study conducted in collaboration with Veer Biotechnology Inc., Washington Research looked at blood samples from people who had contracted the virus and then took two or three doses of the vaccine. Along with this, they also collected blood samples of people who had been infected by Delta or Omicron variants even after taking the vaccine.

Both the Washington and BioNTech studies looked at another aspect of the immune system: B cells. These are a type of white blood cell that can produce a fresh antibody burst when it recognizes a pathogen. That is, as part of the immune system, B cells make antibodies and help fight infection.

The BioNTech team found that people who had Omicron Breakthrough infection had a broader response to these useful cells than those who got a booster shot but had no infection.

However, there is no guarantee that future mutations will be as mild as those of Omicron, and pandemic predictions are difficult because it depends not only on immunity in the population but also on how much the virus itself mutates.
