
PM Modi held an important meeting on Friday after four suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were killed in an encounter in Nagrota, Jammu, and Srinagar. In this meeting, along with PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, and many officials were present. Apart from the killing of four terrorists in the encounter in Nagrota, Jammu and Kashmir, two policemen were also injured. The four terrorists were planning to carry out a major attack on the anniversary of the Mumbai attack.
Apart from Amit Shah, Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary, and top intelligence officials attended the important meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the next day of Nagrota's encounter. According to government sources, the four terrorists who were trapped in the Nagrota encounter were planning to carry out a major attack on the occasion of the anniversary of the Mumbai attack (26/11). The Nagrota encounter was discussed in detail in the review meeting.
Earlier, Jammu Inspector General of Police Mukesh Singh had said about the encounter that the terrorists had come intending to carry out a big conspiracy which was foiled.
Reacting to the success of the security forces, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha had said, "No external force can distract us from our path of peace and progress." Whereas, Inspector General of Kashmir Vijay Kumar said in Srinagar that four terrorists wanted to disrupt the Zilla Vikas Parishad (DDC) election process to be held later this month as Pakistan is attempting to disrupt the political process.
All four terrorists were hiding in the truck
The four terrorists killed in the encounter were hiding in a truck. After the encounter, the police officer had told that a truck was stopped for investigation at 5 am near the toll plaza in the Banota area of Nagrota, but the truck driver escaped leaving the vehicle. As soon as the CRPF and policemen started searching the vehicle, the terrorists hiding in the truck opened fire. According to Singh, the militants were asked to surrender, but they refused to do so, after which the encounter started. He said that other security forces also joined it, after which fierce firing took place. During this time, terrorists threw grenades and opened fire.
