Russia Ukraine War: Relief news has come from Belarus regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. Both the countries have agreed on some points regarding the ceasefire. Despite this, Russia ordered missiles equipped with atom bombs to be kept ready for attack. The leave of personnel of the nuclear attack unit has been canceled and they have been ordered to remain in the alert mode for full 24 hours. On the other hand, America has also put its nuclear weapons handling unit on high alert in response to Russia. The US has asked its embassy in Moscow to send back additional personnel and families. Also, the embassy of Belarus has been closed. In such a situation, the question arises that which country has how many nuclear weapons in the world. What are nuclear weapons? Have nuclear weapons been used?

1- Prof Harsh V Pant says that after the end of the Cold War there has been a great reduction in the stock of nuclear weapons. But there are still hundreds of nuclear weapons in the world, he said. These are extremely powerful explosives or bombs. These weapons can be fired within a very short time. The use of nuclear weapons releases large amounts of radiation. Their effect lasts for a very long time after the blast. After the creation of nuclear weapons, the atomic bomb has been used only twice so far. It has caused terrible damage. America used the atomic bomb 77 years ago. The US dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is believed that about eighty thousand civilians were killed in Hiroshima and more than seventy thousand in Nagasaki.

2- So far nine countries in the world have nuclear weapons. These include the United States, Britain, Russia, France, India, Pakistan, China, Israel, and North Korea. However, no country openly talks about nuclear weapons. Think-tech Stockholm International Peace Research Institute reported in a report last year that nine countries had about 13,400 nuclear weapons in 2020, of which 3,720 were stationed with their armies. According to this organization, 1800 atomic bombs remain on high alert. This means that they can be used within a short period. According to this report, India had 150 nuclear weapons by 2021. Pakistan had 160 and China had 320 nuclear weapons.

Ukraine has no comparison with Russia in military force. Russia's army is the second most powerful army in the world, while Ukraine's is at number 22. The largest country by area, Russia is a recognized nuclear-weapon state. Russia has the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons and the Russian military is the second most powerful in the world. It is the fourth largest military spender. The Russian military has approximately one million active-military personnel and at least two million reserve military personnel. It is the fifth-largest army in the world. It is mandatory for all male citizens in the age group of 18-27 to serve one year in the Armed Forces.

4- Russia has the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons. It has the second-largest fleet of ballistic missile submarines and the most powerful Air Force and Navy fleet. Russia is the fourth largest military spender in the world. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the share of modern weapons in Russia's army is 71.2 percent. Russia has 12,950 tanks, which is twice the number of US tanks. Russia has 900,000 active militaries and over 4,100 aircraft.

5- The number of armed forces in Ukraine is 250,000. The number of active personnel in this is 245,000. Ukraine has 225 aircraft and 2,430 tanks. This is much less than in Russia. Ukraine spent 6 billion dollars on the military in 2020, which is 10 times less than Russia. People aged 18-49 can contribute to the Ukrainian Army. The Armed Forces of Ukraine consist of the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, and Airmobile Force. Ukraine's naval forces maintain their own small Naval Infantry Force as well as the Naval Aviation Force.
