Sculptor Jaideep Apte was arrested on Wednesday night in connection with the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue at Rajkot Fort in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. He was arrested from Kalyan. The police had formed seven teams to search for him. However, Jaideep Apte's wife is said to be behind his arrest.

According to the report of the English newspaper Times of India, Jaideep Apte was arrested outside his house. He had reached home to meet his family. Apte had informed his wife that he was coming back home. After this, the wife gave this information to the police. Apte's family wanted him to cooperate in the police investigation.

Was the structural consultant arrested last week?

Let us tell you that after the collapse of Shivaji's statue, Malvan police registered a case against Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil for negligence and other crimes. Patil was arrested last week.

Sindhudurg District Magistrate is also in trouble

Earlier, Sindhudurg District Magistrate Kishore S Tawde was suddenly transferred. Not only this, he has also been demoted. He has been given the responsibility of the non-IAS junior administrative level category. In his place, Anil A. Patil, Managing Director of Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited has been appointed as the new District Magistrate of Sindhudurg.

Let us tell you that the 28-foot-high statue of Chhatrapati installed on a 10-foot-high platform fell due to bad weather. Last year on Navy Day (December 4), PM Narendra Modi unveiled this statue at Rajkot Fort in Malvan Tehsil of Sindhudurg. Shinde government has also been criticized a lot due to the collapse of the statue just eight months after its unveiling.
