
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Sunday that five finance committees and 10 oversight committees would be appointed to resolve the economic and political crisis facing the country. Wickremesinghe said new committees would be appointed to complement the already existing committees on government finance, namely Public Finance Committee, Accounts Committee, and Public Enterprises Committee. In a special statement, the new Sri Lankan PM said ten oversight committees reporting to Parliament on policies would be appointed and Parliament should act on the recommendations of these committees.

Ranil Wickremesinghe said, 'Youth is calling for a change in the existing system. They also want to know the current issues. Therefore, I propose to appoint four youth representatives to each of these 15 committees. He also stressed the need to change the structure of Parliament to strengthen it.
