Former Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed slammed the Shahbaz Sharif-led government for the deteriorating economic situation in Pakistan and said that the game is over for this government. He accused Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto of not going to the office. He expressed the fear that like Sri Lanka, Pakistan may not collapse.
"God knows Supreme Court will restore 150 references to government corruption," Rashid wrote on Twitter. "The NAB amendments will be nullified and 10 million foreign Pakistanis will get the right to vote," he said.
Bilawal does not go to the office
In a scathing attack on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, former Home Minister Sheikh Rashid said Bhutto comes as a guest and does not even look at his office, Dawn reported.
In a later tweet, he said that Pakistan is burdened with extreme inflation. Rashid claimed that the "petrol mafia" had prevented the government from reducing fuel prices for three days.
21 ministers without portfolios
According to Dawn, the former minister also alleged that there are 21 ministers without portfolios in the current government. Notably, the steep rise in inflation in Pakistan has resulted in a decline in demand and has made it difficult for ordinary citizens to even meet necessities. Rashid further says that the biggest concern of economic experts is that with a shrinking economy and rising inflation in Pakistan, the future of the country is bleak.
Pakistan's downfall like Sri Lanka
He said that after the economic collapse of Sri Lanka, the biggest concern is for Pakistan as inflation continues to skyrocket. Inflation is rising month-on-month (MoM) at 6.34 percent. The year-on-year (YoY) reached 21.32 percent in June. According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), inflation in the country will be in the range of 18-20 percent in this financial year.
