The five-day festival of Deepotsav is starting from Dhanteras. This time Dhanteras will start at 6 pm on the 22nd and will continue till 6 pm on the 23rd. Due to this, Dhanteras will be celebrated on both the 22nd and 23rd day. On the evening of the 22, there will be 1-1 Muhurta for Dhanvantari Puja and Yama Deepdan and the whole day will be auspicious for shopping. Tripushkar Yoga is being formed on this day, it is believed that the work done in this yoga gives 3 times the result.

 

Sarvarthasiddhi Yoga will be there for the whole day on the 23rd. Therefore, the whole day will be an auspicious time for all kinds of purchases, investments, and new beginnings. In this way, Dhanteras will be celebrated on both the 22nd and 23rd day.

There is also a tradition of buying gold and silver and utensils on Dhanteras. On this day, Lord Dhanvantari along with Kuber and Lakshmi is worshiped during Pradosh Kaal in the evening. To avoid premature death and wish for good health, a lit lamp is lit in the south direction for Yamraj outside the house.

 

Health is the biggest wealth that's why the worship of Dhanvantari

 

Usually, people see Dhanteras associated with money, but it is a festival of wealth named Arogya. Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda, is worshiped on this day for good health throughout the year. In Vishnu Purana, a healthy body is considered to be the biggest wealth. If health is not good, then the happiness of money is not felt, so the tradition of Dhanvantari Puja started.

 

According to the legend, the moon appeared on Sharad Purnima at the time of Samudra Manthan, Kamdhenu cow on the twelfth day of Kartik month, and Dhanvantari on the next day i.e. Trayodashi with a golden urn in his hand. which was full of nectar. He had medicines in his other hand and gave the world the knowledge of nectar and Ayurveda. This is the reason why Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurveda, is worshiped on this day. In the Puranas, he is also considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
