UNSC Meeting: Two-day UNSC anti-terrorism meeting will be held in India, these important issues will be discussed

India is set to host a two-day counter-terrorism meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) from Friday. The Anti-Terrorism Committee (CTC) will meet under the chairmanship of New Delhi on October 28 and October 29 in Mumbai and New Delhi respectively.

"Ambassador Lu will consider counter-terrorism action and the important relationship between the two countries," the US mission to the United Nations said in a media note on Wednesday. Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sanjay Verma said that this two-day counter-terrorism conference is being organized in India by the UNSC-CTC, which will start from Mumbai on October 28.

Information about this important meeting was tweeted by India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj via video message. He said that during the last two decades, considerable progress has been made in countering the challenge of terrorism and violent extremism. In this committee organized in India, the challenges of carrying out terrorist actions through new emerging technology will be specially discussed.

 

India, Ministry of External Affairs Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted, "The first segment of the special meeting of the @UN Security Council Anti-Terrorism Committee will be held today at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai.

Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs said, “The meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will be held on 28th and 29th in Mumbai and Delhi. A city like Mumbai has been the best symbol of Indian economic growth in recent years and is the perfect place for this important discussion. Sanjay Verma further said – This is a message in itself that CTC will start its deliberations in Mumbai.
