UNSC's anti-terrorism meeting will be held in India, many countries will participate; these will be the issue

A two-day meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is being held in India to deal with terrorism. It will focus on combating the use of the internet, new payment mechanisms, and drones by terrorists. Ministry of External Affairs Secretary Sanjay Verma said that the "meeting will begin with paying tributes to the victims of terrorism".

 

UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverley is among the foreign ministers attending the meeting in India. The Secretary of, the Ministry of External Affairs said, "UNSC Counter-Terrorism Committee will be held on the 28th and 29th in Mumbai and Delhi. The theme of the meeting will be Countering the Use of New and Emerging Technology for Terrorist Purposes. Tributes will be paid to the victims." The Indian official said that British Foreign Minister James Cleverley and foreign ministers of other countries will attend the UN Anti-Terrorism Committee conference in India.

 

Indian Ambassador to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said that terrorism is one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. He said the UN Security Council's counter-terrorism conference to be held in India will consider tackling the use of the internet, new payment systems, and drones by terrorists.

 

India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj is the Chairperson of the Anti-Terrorism Committee. He said that over the past two decades, member states have made progress in combating terrorism and violent extremism conducive to it. Yet the terror threat remains and has evolved despite our best efforts.

 

He said that terrorism remains one of the most serious threats to peace and security. Addressing the use of new and emerging technologies for terrorist purposes has become a growing concern with the increasing proliferation of technology and rapid increase in digitization.
