Vice President Election 2022: The date for the Vice Presidential election has been announced. If necessary, voting will be held on 6 August. The notification for the Vice Presidential Election 2022 will be issued on 5th July. The date of nomination (Vice President Election) is till July 19.

 

Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination till July 22. The Election Commission has set the date of voting for the Vice Presidential election on August 6 and the counting of votes will also take place on the same day. The current Vice President of the country is Venkaiah Naidu, whose term ends on August 10. Before this, the new Vice-President is to be elected.

The Election Commission has announced the date for the Vice Presidential election. If needed, voting will be held on 6 August. After the release of the notification, candidates will be able to file their nominations till July 19. In the Vice Presidential election, members of both houses of Parliament vote. Elections are held through the proportional representation system through the Electoral College consisting of members of both the houses.

 

 

Who can contest the Vice Presidential election?

 

Any citizen of India who has attained the age of 35 years can contest the election of Vice President. Along with this, the candidates should be those who have the qualification to be elected to the Rajya Sabha. The candidate contesting the election of the Vice President must be a voter of the State or Union Territory (UT). Any person who is holding any office of profit under the government is not eligible to contest the election. If the candidate is a member of either House of the Parliament or a House of the State Legislature, then after winning the election, he will have to give up his membership.
