Washington. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning that antibiotics are being used excessively to combat the coronavirus, which may prove to be very dangerous in the future. According to this warning, the excessive use of antibiotics is making the bacteria more strong, due to which diseases due to these can be exposed in a formidable manner and this may lead to more deaths from corona.
According to a report published in the Guardian, the WHO director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday that the immunity of bacteria is increasing against the drugs that used to treat diseases caused by bacteria. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the use of antibiotics has become extremely high and as a result, gradually the bacteria will become more powerful towards these drugs. In such a situation, due to the current epidemic and in the coming times, diseases caused by bacteria can become fatal and other medicines will also be needed to treat them.
TB and pneumonia are also caused by bacteria
Explain that not all bacteria cause harm, but the disease causing bacteria contain some toxic elements called endotoxin and exotoxin. Bacterial meningitis, pneumonia, TB or tuberculosis and cholera are the main diseases caused by them. Before the discovery of antibiotics, there were thousands of deaths every year in the world due to TB, pneumonia and cholera. Pneumonia causes infections in the lungs, in addition antibiotics are used to treat TB. Cholera is an intestinal infection caused by bacteria Vibrio cholerae. It is spread by contaminated food and water.
Remadecivir does not have much effect
Experiments on the drug Remedisvir, which are believed to be a possible cure for corona virus, have shown that it provides some relief to patients with moderate symptoms. The drug manufacturer Gilead has said that the people who took this medicine for a short period had better results. After this announcement from the company, the price of the company's shares fell by four percent. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has said that it will decide on Tuesday what to do next on its decision to stop the trial of hydroxychloroquine. US President Donald Trump has supported this drug of malaria. A research published in the medical journal Lancet claimed that patients using hydroxychloroquine had higher mortality rates. After this research, the World Health Organization had stopped the trial of hydroxychloroquine.
Mask helps in preventing virus
A new research in the US has shown that wearing masks and adhering to social distancing can effectively prevent the corona virus from spreading, although repeated steps like washing hands also help a little. Researchers say that the N-95 mask may prove to be most effective in preventing corona, while surgical masks work better than masks with a single layer of cloth. This research published on Monday said that the risk of corona infection between two people by a distance of at least one meter or three feet is less, although it may be better to maintain a distance of up to two meters.
