Will Kohli also retire in 3 years: Dhoni and Ganguly also left the captaincy at the age of 33, took retirement within 3 years

Virat Kohli will no longer lead India in any format after relinquishing the Test captaincy on 15 January 2022. Kohli had already stepped down from the captaincy of the limited-overs and now he has also resigned from the captaincy of the Test format. The golden career of Kohli's captaincy did not end well as India went on to create history in the Test series against South Africa.

After leaving the captaincy of Kohli, it is being speculated that he may take retirement soon. Dhoni and Ganguly, who were captains before Virat, retired only after 3 years of leaving the captaincy.

33 funny games in Indian cricket

Kohli and Dhoni played their biggest Test innings only when they were captains. Dhoni left the captaincy at the age of 33 and when Virat Kohli also left the captaincy, his age is only 33 years. You will be surprised to know that when Sourav Ganguly also left the captaincy in 2005, his age was also 33 years.

Dhoni abruptly left the captaincy of the Test

Mahendra Singh Dhoni abruptly left the captaincy during the series during the Australia tour in 2014. After that, he was the captain of ODI and T20 for three years, and in 2017 Mahi handed over the captaincy of both ODI and T20 to Kohli. After this, Mahi continued to play cricket till July 2019. He did not return to the team after the semi-final loss of the 2019 ODI World Cup and took retirement from international cricket on 15 August 2020.

Ganguly also did not play much after leaving the captaincy

Sourav Ganguly, who was the BCCI President and former captain of Team India, left the ODI and Test captaincy in 2005. After three years, that is, in 2008, he retired. Ganguly played his last ODI match in 2007 and the last Test match was against Australia in 2008.

The case of Mohammad Azharuddin is different. He was banned for life in the year 2000 following match-fixing allegations and after that, he was never able to return to the team.

33-year-old Kohli's rift with the board

Virat Kohli has turned 33 years old. After stepping down from the captaincy, there has also been a rift between Virat with the board. In such a situation, for how many days Kohli will be a part of the team as a player, it will be a matter to be seen. After leaving the captaincy in the history of Indian cricket, players have not been able to remain a part of the team for long.
