Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah was attacked during a wedding ceremony on Wednesday night. The attacker attempted to shoot him from behind, but he narrowly escaped. Reacting for the first time since the incident, Abdullah said, "Allah saved me."
The incident occurred during a wedding ceremony in Greater Kailash, on the outskirts of the city. As Farooq Abdullah was leaving the event, a man named Kamal Singh Jamwal allegedly attempted to shoot him. However, Abdullah was not hit by the bullet and remained unharmed. The attacker was immediately apprehended.

This incident has again raised questions about the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Such an attack on a prominent political figure is a matter of concern. National Conference leaders have strongly condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the attacker.
Farooq Abdullah's Statement
Following the incident, Farooq Abdullah reacted calmly, saying that it was Allah's grace that he escaped unharmed. He refrained from providing any details about the incident.

Meanwhile, PDP chief Mufti expressed deep grief over the incident. She wrote on social media, "Shocked to hear about the serious attack on Farooq Abdullah Sahib. Relieved to know that he is safe and well. Hope the police will get to the bottom of this security lapse."
Congress leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir called the incident a serious security lapse that cannot be accepted. He said, "I am deeply shocked to hear about the deadly attack on Farooq Abdullah at a wedding ceremony. This serious security lapse is unacceptable. Thankfully, he is safe. A thorough and transparent investigation into this incident is necessary to fix responsibility and prevent such incidents in the future."
PDP leader Waheed ur Rehman Parra also condemned the attack, saying, "I am deeply saddened to hear about this reprehensible attack on Farooq Abdullah. Violence against such a veteran leader is absolutely unacceptable and strongly condemned. We pray for his safety and long life."
Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also condemned the incident and expressed concern. He said, "The news of the deadly attack on Farooq Abdullah in Jammu is worrying and condemnable. It is a relief to know that he narrowly escaped. A thorough investigation should be conducted into how someone came so close to him with a loaded weapon and fired at him."
