Burdwan, Jan 20 (IANS) Asserting that the Narendra Modi government had a strong political will and resolution, BJP president Amit Shah Tuesday said his party has taken big steps towards fulfilling its electoral promises.
Addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party rally in West Bengal's Burdwan district, Shah described 2014 as the BJP's victory year and asserted that the party will come to power in Delhi, Bihar and Bengal.
"Instead of a government with policy paralysis, you now have a government with strong political will and strong resolution. What the UPA could not do in 10 years, the Modi government has done that in just seven months.
"After coming to power, we have taken big steps to fulfill the election promises. Besides controlling price rise and lowering fuel prices by 10 times, in the past seven months, the Modi government has brought down inflation to 1.5 percent from 6.5 percent," he said.
He also hailed the central government's initiates like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Make in India campaign and claimed that since the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Aug 15, more than 10 crore bank accounts have been opened under the scheme.
Hailing Modi for taking India towards the path of development, Shah said the prime minister has also enhanced the country's honour internationally.
"The year 2014 has been the BJP's victory year. After coming to power at the centre, people elected us in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
"Similarly, we will also come to power in Delhi, then Bihar and then in Bengal," said Shah.
Charging the Trinamool with jeopardising national interest and neglecting Bengal's development for the sake of vote bank politics, Shah exhorted people to uproot the Trinamool from the state.
Kicking off a membership drive in Bengal, Shah asserted that the Trinamool's attacks on BJP activists and supporters cannot stop the BJP's "victory cavalcade".
"When the Modi government is taking the country ahead, the Trinamool government is taking Bengal behind.
"The BJP government wants to work for the development of Bengal but Mamata ji does not allow us to do that," Shah added.
