The reason for the sudden change in weather is believed to be Western Disturbance. According to Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining parts of Jammu and Kashmir. A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Northeast Rajasthan and adjoining areas. A trough is extending from Northeast Rajasthan to Meghalaya across East Assam, Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Rayalaseema.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of rain with isolated thunderstorms in Uttar Pradesh on May 23 in Siddharthnagar, Sant Kabir, Kushinagar, Deoria, Gorakhpur and Ghaziabad, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Shamli and Muzaffarnagar. In New Tehri and adjoining areas too, the weather has become cooler due to the torrential rains since last night. The weather has become pleasant due to the rain. According to the meteorologist, there is a forecast of drizzle from today in the Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol, and Jabalpur divisions of Madhya Pradesh. Pre-monsoon showers are likely to occur in Bhopal, Ujjain Indore, and Narmadapuram divisions in two-three days. In Bhopal, there is a possibility of wind speed reaching 44 km per hour.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum impact of the new Western Disturbance in Rajasthan is Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Bundi, Bara, Dholpur, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Kota, Churu, Nagaur, Sri Ganganagar, Pali, Bikaner, and Jodhpur. The IMD said that the southwest monsoon is expected to reach Kerala early next week. According to the department, light to moderate rain may occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next two days.
