Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the Archaeological Experiential Museum in PM's hometown Vadnagar on Thursday, built for Rs 298 crore. Apart from this, he will also dedicate the Vadnagar Sports Complex built at a cost of about 35 crores to the public. During this, a film on the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be released. Apart from this, the Home Minister will also preside over the Heritage Complex Development Scheme, Urban Road Development and Beautification Program in Vadnagar.
A senior official of the Union Culture Ministry said that the Archaeological Experiential Museum is spread over an area of 12,500 square meters. It shows the excavated archaeological evidence of rich cultural history and continuous human habitation over 2,500 years. This is the first museum of its kind developed in India, where visitors will experience an archaeological site. The museum displays more than 5,000 artifacts related to pottery, shell manufacturing (products and raw materials), coins, jewelry, weapons, tools, sculptures, sports goods, and biological materials such as food grains, DNA, and skeletal remains. The museum, which has nine thematic galleries, has an excavation site spread over an area of 4,000 square meters, where archaeological remains can be seen up to a depth of 12-16 meters. An experiential walkway shed at this excavation site will showcase the archaeological remains obtained from the excavation to the visitors.
