In view of the Bihar elections, the opposition parties have opened a front against the Election Commission on the allegations of SIR and 'vote theft'. Yesterday, the Election Commission had ordered the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to file an affidavit within 7 days. At the same time, now the opposition is preparing to bring an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar by playing a new trick.
Congress party's Rajya Sabha MP Nasir Hussain also broke his silence on this and said that the party is ready to use all democratic methods. If needed, an impeachment motion will also be brought.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Hussain said-
"If needed, we will use all methods under constitutional rules. We have not talked about impeachment yet, but if needed, we can do anything."
CEC has given 7 days time
Actually, yesterday Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had termed all the allegations of the opposition, including 'vote theft', as false. He said that if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has evidence related to these allegations, then he should file an affidavit with all the evidence in the Election Commission within 7 days or apologize for misleading the people.
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
Reacting to the CEC's order, Rahul Gandhi said, "The Election Commission is asking for an affidavit from me, but when BJP MP Anurag Thakur had made the same allegations against him, why did the Election Commission not ask him to file an affidavit?"
