India's Olympic and World Champion Neeraj Chopra is all set to make his much-awaited return to the Commonwealth Games 2026 after an eight-year gap. The star javelin thrower will begin his campaign in the qualification round, with fans eagerly anticipating another high-profile showdown against Pakistan's Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem.

 

Apart from Neeraj, India's medal hopes also rest on Tajinderpal Singh Toor, Parul Chaudhary, Seema Antil, Lovepreet Singh, and several other athletes competing across athletics, weightlifting, cycling, and lawn bowls.

Neeraj Chopra Returns to Commonwealth Games After Missing 2022 Edition

 

Neeraj Chopra last competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, where he won the gold medal with a throw of 86.47 metres. He missed the 2022 Birmingham Games due to injury and now returns determined to add another Commonwealth medal to his remarkable career.

 

Neeraj Chopra vs Arshad Nadeem: One of Athletics' Biggest Rivalries

 

The biggest attraction of the day will be another chapter in the Neeraj Chopra vs Arshad Nadeem rivalry.

 

The duo first competed against each other in 2016.

They have faced each other 11 times.

Neeraj has finished ahead in 10 competitions.

Arshad's lone victory came at the Paris Olympics 2024, where he won gold with an Olympic record throw of 92.97 metres, while Neeraj claimed silver.
