According to the latest report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), in 2018-19, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received the highest corporate donation of more than 698 crore rupees (more than 20 thousand rupees), then the Congress came second and it got 122.5 crore rupees. The second place in terms of corporate donations is the Congress party which received Rs 122.50 crore from 122 donors and 11.345 crore from 17 corporate / business donors to NCP. Between FY 2018-19, BJP and Congress received 94% and 82% donations from voluntary contributions (over Rs 20,000) from corporate or business houses respectively. The CPI has not announced any donations from corporate.
Who gave the most donation?
The Tata group-backed Progressive Electoral Trust is the apex donor of the BJP, Congress and Trinamool Congress. The trust has donated a total of 455.15 crore to three parties thrice in a year. BJP, Congress, and Trinamool Congress have received donations of 365.535 crore, 55.629 crore, and 42.986 crore respectively from each donation of Progressive Electoral Trust.
Progressive Electoral Trust gave the maximum amount of Rs 356.535 crore to BJP, Rs 67.25 crore was given by Prudent Electoral Trust, and Rs 28 crore by AB General Electoral Trust. The Congress gave the maximum amount of 55.629 crores to Progressive Electoral Trust, 34 crores to Prudent Electoral Trust, and 7 crores to Gwalior Elcobru Private Limited.
Top Five Corporate Donors
The first number in the list of five largest corporate donors in the country is that of the Progressive Electoral Trust which donated a total of Rs 455.15 crore in FY 2018-19. It is followed by Prudent Electoral Trust, which spent 10.25 crores. The third number belongs to AB General Electoral Trust, which donated Rs 30 crore, while BG Shirke Construction Technology donated Rs 20 crore. In fifth place are the Morden Road Makers, who gave 15.65 crore rupees to political parties.
How much corporate donation to which party?
BJP received a total donation of 742.15 crore rupees in the financial year 2018-19, out of which 698.1 crore rupees came from corporate sources. Of the total 148.58 crore donations received by the Congress, 122.5 crore was received from corporate. Out of the Rs 44.26 crore received by the Trinamool Congress, Rs 42.99 crore was received from the corporate while NCP received Rs 11.35 crore from the corporate out of the total 12.05.

In six years, the BJP received a total of Rs 2,319 crore of corporate donations, while the Congress party got 376.02 crore and NCP got 69.81 crore. Trinamool Congress got 45.02 crores.
